The Continuing Search for Life on Mars

ExoMars | Perseverance | Methane | Extremophiles | Stromatolites

Mars and Earth were likely to have been very similar in the young solar system, both with carbon dioxide-rich atmospheres. They have subsequently followed different evolutionary paths with Mars losing much of its atmosphere, water and habitability.

Too hostile for life now, what is the chance that Mars harboured life in its warmer and wetter past? With the launch of two new Mars missions in 2020 & 2028, the next generation of Mars exploration aims to find out.
